January can be such a motivating month, one where we're excited to look forward to the year ahead and we feel reflective and nostalgic about the year just gone.
When doing this myself, I wanted to pull the behind-the-scenes curtain and share a big monetary decision I made for Petite Primary in 2023. You may have already guessed it because you're currently on it right now—it's the purchase of this website and its domain. You might be wondering, "Why commit to a website when you have another job," or you might be thinking the opposite end of the spectrum and "Why is it such a big deal to you?" (Sounds blunt, but I don't take offence to those kind of things, promise)!
How my perspective of goal setting has changed
Ever heard of Hal Elrod and his "Miracle Equations"? Well, let me tell you, that and his book "The Miracle Morning" really changed my perspectives on goal setting and accomplishing goals. To summarise for you, setting a goal isn't just about ticking it off your list or reaching that target; the focus is actually on becoming the kind of person who can reach that goal. It's all about the habits you build and the commitment and consistency you bring to the table as a result. If you don’t meet the goal, but you’ve become a person who is consistent, persistent, committed, determined, motivated and has developed habits and skills to prepare yourself to achieve that goal - that’s where you win at life!
My goal
I've got big dreams for Petite Primary, that's why! I want a business that's ready to handle large orders, catering to a multitude of amazing clients, all while radiating credibility and authority in its domain. To make this dream a reality, I decided to take a leap and invest in this vision because having an online presence screams, "Hey world, I'm here and ready to show you what I can offer!" It's my way of telling myself and everyone out there that I'm dead serious about making Petite Primary a success and that the investment of my money is my commitment to success, a promise to myself that failure is not an option.
Through thick and thin, I'm here with consistency and dedication because when people see that, they know I'm the real deal—reliable, credible, and giving all the teacher vibes. It's not just about a website; it's about becoming the kind of person who slays those big goals like they're no big deal.
Throwing the question back at you
Now, if you're poking around my website or scrolling through my socials, chances are you're on a mission to secure a teaching job or aspiring to train as a teacher. In that case, I ask you the question, what does the individual look like who will meet those goals? How will you present that individual in your personal statement or your interview answers?
